I love the background story into John's sight... Just everything. The details of his childhood with Robert are so very numb and tragic. It's fitting that John would have been friends with a ghost when he was young, a wise little ghost. I think it's very sweet of John to put Robert's favourite flowers by the grave. It's something John would do.
Ah, Afghanistan. Wow. I can imagine this so clearly. John trying so hard to save everyone and when he can't, he is haunted by actual ghosts and not just figurative ones. It's amazing that he can soldier on and continue despite it all, I'd go insane if it were me. The passage where John takes several bullets for Murray to try to prove his ghosts wrong... that really got me.
THen meeting Sherlock, Sherlock who can't see the ghosts, attracts them and doesn't bat an eyelash at John who can see them. It's so typically SHerlock that its wonderful!
Finaly, the tweaking you did with the final scene, where the girl looks at John for reassurance to listen to Sherlock... WOW.
